Windelo Steps Up: Introducing the New 58 and 62
We feel an affinity with Windelo here at Katamarans, as they launched their eco-performance catamaran brand around the same time as Katamarans.com was launched, so we are always interested in the news from the yard.
At this year’s Cannes Yachting Festival, Windelo signalled that it has no intention of playing small. Founded in 2019, the French yard has already carved out a successful market with its eco-conscious, performance-oriented catamarans. Now it has doubled down with the announcement of two larger bluewater models: the Windelo 58 and the Windelo 62 driven in part by customer demand.

Windelo 58
These new flagships are a bold statement of intent from Windelo. Owners are increasingly demanding more space, more autonomy, and less environmental compromise, Windelo has decided to push its philosophy of performance, comfort, and ecology squarely into the 60-foot segment.
Partnerships That Matter
Windelo is continuing its successful design partnership with industry legends Christophe Barreau and Frédéric Neuman, whose pedigree in fast, seaworthy multihulls is hard to beat. Their brief was ambitious: create true bluewater machines capable of slipping along in just 3 to 4 knots of breeze, while offering the comfort and carrying capacity expected of modern long-range catamarans.
Also on the design side, Windelo has turned to an inspired partner: the Stellantis Design Studio. Known for its automotive work, the studio brings an obsession with proportion and flow to the table, evident in the clean, sweeping lines of both models. From the curved glass windshields to the panoramic interiors, the goal has been to erase barriers between inside and out – letting the horizon become part of the living space.
Windelo 58: Agility Meets Autonomy
At 17.68m LOA and just 18 tonnes light displacement, the 58 promises agility rare in a yacht of this size. With daggerboards, fine hulls, and a generous sail plan, it’s a design built to sail in all conditions. This eco cat will ghost along in just 4 knots of breeze.

Windelo 58
Life onboard is imagined as a “loft at sea.” The saloon is open and bathed in light, flowing seamlessly into the cockpit with its unobstructed forward view. Five cabins (plus a skipper’s) are available, with a galley designed as the heart of the boat. On deck, two distinct outdoor spaces — the aft terrace and forward trampoline lounge — are designed to frame life around the sea itself.
The propulsion system combines electric motors with a diesel genset backup, powered by solar, hydrogeneration, and wind inputs, a system proven across oceans on the Windelo 50 and 54. With 1,200 litres of diesel as a safety margin, the 58 is pitched at voyagers who want silence most of the time, but range when they need it.

Windelo 62: The New Flagship
Two meters longer and four tonnes heavier, the Windelo 62 pushes deeper into the realm of the true long-range liveaboard. Its payload capacity is greater, and the layouts more customizable — dressing rooms, laundry, and work spaces are all on the menu.

Windelo 62
Sailing remains straightforward. All lines are led to a centralized forward cockpit, a feature that makes shorthanded handling feasible despite the size of the vessel. But with plenty of room for crew if you need them. With 140m² of mainsail and a light, balanced rig, the 62 is designed to maintain high mileage days without the fuss.

Windelo 62 Interior
Inside, volumes are generous without being ostentatious. Panoramic glazing and high ceilings maintain that Windelo trademark connection to the sea, while the Stellantis design flair keeps the atmosphere clean and modern. Privacy for owners, guests, and crew has been carefully built in — vital for those heading far afield with professional crew.

Sailing Differently
What sets Windelo apart on top of the basalt-fiber hulls, the hybrid powertrains, and the flowing loft-like interiors, is the refusal to choose between performance, ecology, and comfort. Barreau & Neuman’s mantra is that that real performance is “sailing more often”, not just faster, sums up the approach.
From a yard that launched its first boat five years ago, the leap to the 58 and 62 is bold. But then, this seems to be Windelo’s stock-in-trade. These new flagships look set to shift expectations in the larger bluewater multihull market.
