The New Lagoon 47

Lagoon 47 – a New Model from Lagoon in 2026

Lagoon has quietly teased the arrival of the Lagoon 47 for 2026, describing it as a new model “shaped from sailors’ experience.” The first details were unveiled in late 2025, with more to come in 2026.

For fans of cruising catamarans, the name Lagoon 47 carries some weight. It harks back to a classic early model first built in 1992, designed by Van Peteghem/Lauriot-Prevost and produced by Lagoon under Jeanneau. That yacht was known for its dependable bluewater performance and remains popular on the second hand market today.

The original 47 was later succeeded by the Lagoon 470 in 1998, which carried the lineage through the late ’90s and early 2000s.

Two decades later, Lagoon reinvented the mid-40-foot range with the Lagoon 450 and, more recently, the Lagoon 46.

The 450—available in both Sportop and Flybridge variants—was a commercial and charter success with more than 800 units built.

It combined practical layout and ample cruising comfort in a 45-foot platform.

The follow-on Lagoon 46, introduced in 2019, extended that success with broader beam, refined interior ergonomics and improved sailplan, keeping the bluewater cruiser formula fresh.

Design Heritage and What to Expect

Although technical details for the upcoming Lagoon 47 are still light on details, early listings suggest a boat around 14.1 m (46’3”) LOA with a 7.60 m beam. Given Lagoon’s recent design language (seen on the Lagoon 43 and Lagoon 38), we can expect sweeping coachroof lines, panoramic windows and a pronounced emphasis on blending indoor and outdoor spaces. More solar is a given, with Uvoji water purification as standard.

A hallmark of the new generation is more natural light and improved sightlines through the saloon. The Lagoon 38 and Lagoon 43 both have large portlights and minimal visual barriers between the cockpit and interior; the 47 will likely continue this trend. Designers at VPLP and Nauta—who have been key partners on recent Lagoon models—are moving towards layouts that favour social zones over segmented cabins, in both owner and charter configurations.

Mock Up

A Mock Up of What the New Lagoon 47 Could Look Like

The standard layout will have a spacious main saloon with a level floor flowing aft into the cockpit, making the whole space feel like a single social hub. We’re expecting an owners cabin forward in the owner’s version, moving the spacious accommodation to the quiet end of the boat and freeing up aft spaces for a big shower/head or a guest cabin in the charter version.

Integrating a large flybridge with a central helm station is almost a given, following the success of the 46’s upper deck for both sailing control and social spaces.

We reckon that they will incorporate the side dock access that we have seen on the 43.

Under sail, we expect the Lagoon 47 to retain a balanced, manageable rig similar to its predecessors but with improved performance ratios, particularly under Code 0. The 450 and 46 are no slouches in this respect when the breeze picks up.

Summary

The new Lagoon 47 promises more than incremental change, building on the new hull design of the new generation, leading to more space onboard, particularly forward in the hulls. It should reimagine the mid-size cruising catamaran for owners who want comfort, solid performance and thoughtful innovations that come from owner’s feedback and decades of experience building boats.
