Trueline CX36
A new 36-footer enters the powercat race
The 36ft outboard power catamaran segment is becoming one of the most contested sectors in the multihull market. Into the competition comes the Trueline CX36, the first model from a new brand. It feels big for the division it is in, has an impressive fuel capacity and arrives with a strong story.

The company behind the boat
Trueline Yachts operates from Qingdao, in China’s Shandong province. The company positions itself as fusing European elegance with American practicality, and lists carbon-fibre structures among its key skill set.
Trueline are a new brand that will be presenting their designs at the 2026 Cannes International Yachting Festival.
The current range consists of the CX36 and the CX32.
The competition is fierce in this segment with the benchmark boat in this class being the Aquila 36, is built by the Sino Eagle Group and sold internationally through MarineMax. Aquila also build their yachts in China.

The CX36: More Details
This is an 11.20m outboard-powered day and weekend catamaran with two en-suite cabins, one in each hull, and a single main deck for entertaining.
Twin hulls with generously proportioned cabins, each with private en-suite facilities and standing headroom. The boat as powered by twin outboards. A midsize power catamaran, blending the social advantages of a dayboat with the comfort of a liveaboard.
As yet, there are few technical details available.
Deck and layout
The cockpit has a galley with cooking area, sink and cold storage, two modular aft sofas with adjustable tables and flip-over backrests that convert between dining, lounging and sunbathing surfaces, a bow cockpit with ambient lighting, a retractable sun awning, and a helm protected by a hardtop and wide windscreen.

The features that stand out
Fold-out side platforms. The fold-out side platforms expand the living space at anchor. This is a signature of the class. The YOT 36 uses two large fold-down platforms to create a terrace, and its folding bulwarks take a 3.99m beam out to 5.4m at rest.
Convertible stern beach platform. The transom platform is designed to work as both a bathing ladder and a gangway, giving access to the water and to the dock from the same structure. On a Mediterranean stern-to berth that will be practical.
Construction. The build will be built in GRP and carbon fibre.

How it compares
YOT 36 (Catana Group). The closest rival. Official figures are 10.92m LOA, 3.99m beam, 3ft draft, two cabins, maximum 800hp and CE classification B10. The hull is a J&J Design, and it comes from a group based at Canet-en-Roussillon that runs five production sites, employs over 1,300 people and turns out more than 300 boats a year. At its 2023 Cannes debut the demonstrator carried twin 300hp Verado V8s for an estimated 35-knot top speed, with pricing from €380,000 excluding tax.
The critical difference is beam. The YOT 36 was drawn at 3.99m specifically to fit a standard 4m berth. At 4.33m the Trueline is wider. More interior volume but higher berth fees.
Aquila 36 Sport. A 14ft 7in beam, this boat is wider than the Trueline, with two en-suite staterooms, 6ft 6in headroom and a 35-knot top speed on twin 350hp Verados. Its distinguishing feature is the optional Hydro Glide foil system, a bolted and bonded midship assembly with 42in wings projecting around 8in below the keel. Aquila claims improvements of up to 30% and up to 40%.
Four Winns TH36. The Beneteau Group entry, named alongside the Aquila as the main competition in this class.
Against that field, the CX36’s fuel capacity is an interesting number. At 1,340 litres it is a large tank for an 11-metre outboard boat, and it points to longer passage-making rather than afternoons at anchor.
Verdict
The CX36 comes with some interesting ideas and one of the key pieces of missing information in her price point. The stern platform doubling as gangway is a good idea, the two-cabin en-suite arrangement at 36ft is competitive, and the fuel capacity suggests the hulls were designed with more than dockside cocktails in mind. The wide beam buys volume.
Buyers will need more detail. We are lookign forward to seeing the first hull to splash, more detail on the the engine package and the CE certificate.
