Simbad 55 Select, Ultra and Legend Packs Compared
Simbad 55 Select, Ultra and Legend: every pack compared
Simbad Yachts sells the 55 without an options list. Each boat is built to one of three fixed packs, Select, Ultra or Legend, and priced as a complete yacht ready to sail. The hull, deck and layout choices are the same across all three. What changes is the rig, the sail cloth, the engines and docking kit, the electronics and the level of comfort equipment.

How the packs are priced
Simbad publishes its prices excluding VAT: €1,895,000 for Select, around €2,380,000 for Ultra and €2,990,000 for Legend. Stepping up from Select to Ultra costs roughly €485,000, and Ultra to Legend a further €610,000. Customisation outside the pack is limited to the wood finish, carpets, cabin layout and galley position.
Select
Select is the entry pack, but it is still a well equipped boat. The rig is a painted aluminium mast with an E-glass furling boom and polyester sails, and both headsails furl electrically. Two 110 hp Yanmar 4JH110 diesels drive through saildrives. A generator, solar panels, gel batteries, soundproofed machinery spaces and a built-in fire-fighting system are all included.
Inside, Select shares the joinery, Miele galley, Dekton and Gessi bathrooms, 50 in TV and wine cellar of the dearer packs. The flybridge has a soft top and 16 in chartplotters. Teak is limited to the aft cockpit, and water access is by a folding ladder, with a tender and outboard on the lift. There is no bow thruster and no folding propellers.
Ultra
Most of Ultra’s extra cost goes into handling and power. The engines step up to 150 hp Yanmar 4LV150s with folding propellers. A bow thruster, joystick control, 360° cameras and docking winches are added for berthing. The aluminium rig stays, but the sails move to low-stretch Technora.
Energy moves to lithium batteries and a larger solar array, quoted at a little over 3 kW, and air conditioning extends to the cabins. The flybridge gains a hard top and 19 in plotters, and teak runs along the side decks. The swimming ladder becomes electric and telescopic, and a boarding gangway is added with its own stowage. The galley adds a trash compactor and a sink grinder.

Legend
The main upgrade on Legend is a carbon mast and carbon furling boom, carrying Doyle sails in carbon Technora. Less weight aloft reduces pitching and heeling, and the stiffer cloth holds its shape longer as the wind builds.
The rest of the upgrade is equipment. Legend comes with Sea.AI thermal obstacle detection, electric winches, 22 in flybridge plotters and the largest solar array. It also adds smart-home control, a saloon door with privacy glass, a cockpit projector and screen, teak throughout, and hull and underwater lights. A stainless anchor with chain washer and a jet tender on a hydraulic lift complete the pack.
What stays the same
Every Simbad 55 uses the same 17.59 m hull by Pierre Delion, with styling and interiors by Franck Darnet. Owners choose galley up or galley down, and between two and five cabins. The master cabin has a 180 x 200 cm bed and a desk, and guest cabins have queen beds and en-suites. The yard’s layouts include a crew cabin with its own bathroom. Tankage is 1,200 L of fuel and 1,000 L of fresh water on all three packs.

Which pack suits which owner
Select suits experienced multihull sailors who are comfortable berthing without a thruster and would rather spend on cruising than on hardware.
Ultra is the practical choice for couples and shorthanded crews. The bow thruster, joystick and cameras make a 28 t, 8.92 m-wide catamaran far easier to berth, and lithium power suits long stays at anchor.
Legend is for owners who want the lightest, stiffest rig and the full equipment list. It also suits those planning offshore passages, where detecting obstacles at night is a real safety gain.
