Outremer 57 and 64 – the Range Evolves
Outremer 57 and 64
Outremer recently launched the Outremer 64 and Outremer 57, doubling down on their successful vision of ocean cruising: high-performance, reliable and durable yachts.

For sailors planning full circumnavigations, it’s key to look past the rhetoric and focus on the hard facts. The question is simple: do these boats move the programme forward without compromising what makes Outremer so special in the first place?
With the new Outremer 57 (which replaces the 55) and Outremer 64, the answer is yes. These are clever evolutions of a successful range. They are deliberate, carefully extended versions of their offshore catamarans, shaped by experience and customer feedback rather than fashion.

The Philosophy behind the New Generation
Outremer’s priorities are not new. Safety, useful performance, circulation, comfort offshore, pleasure at the helm, and durability have been themes since the first 45s and. What is different is the knowledge with which these principles are applied.
Two areas stand out.
1. Feedback from owners. In France this is known as the “REDEX” loop (Retour d’Expérience or direct feedback from customer experience, tens of thousands of miles of lessons learned).
This helps to develop the helm ergonomics, the flow between cockpit and saloon, tankage ratios, and structural redundancy. The feedback loop is shaped by people who have crossed oceans.
2. Second, collaboration. The long term involvement of VPLP Design on the naval architecture and Patrick Le Quément with Darnet Design on styling and interior architecture shows.
They have developed an impressive extended team of enthusiasts. Outremer is not chasing luxury for its own sake, but they recognise that good design, aesthetics and quality matter on long voyages.
Outremer 57: a Refined Succesor
The Outremer 57 is the direct successor to the 55, a boat with a global reputation built on miles. The 57 does not try to replace that legacy but improves on it.
From a sailing perspective, the fundamentals are kept solid. Moderate displacement, daggerboards, a powerful but manageable sail plan, and hulls that prioritise a smooth motion through waves over interior width. Performance is accessible rather than extreme, which matters when you are tired, shorthanded, and far from home.

What has improved is livability underway. Ventilation is better thought through. The helm stations are more ergonomic. Systems access is cleaner. Storage is more available for long-distance loading. None of this changes the boat’s character, but it improves the experience over months at sea.
For a couple or small family planning to sail far and enjoy life at anchor, the 57 represents one of the most sought after offshore platforms on the market.

Outremer 64: Scaling Up, Maintaining the Ethos
The Outremer 64 is a move up in size for Outremer – a yacht that has been designed for long passages, both with family and crew. The Outremer 64 is the only model in its category with an integrated crew capacity, an independent skipper’s cabin with a good flow between the spaces.

As you’d expect, the flagship has exceptional living spaces, a huge, cockpit, bright saloon, large owner’s cabin, panoramic windows and generous storage. This is a flexible design too, with options for double “My Free Space” zones, with up to twelve different set-ups depending on your sailing program.
This modularity sets the 64 apart. The “My Free Space” concept, with a crew cabin option, allows the boat to shift roles over its lifetime. Owner-operated, crewed later, she can adapt to the program. For a circumnavigation that includes remote work, guests, or evolving family needs, this flexibility is going to be popular.

The result is a boat that offers space of many 70 footers, while still sailing like an Outremer. Dual helm stations, a secure cockpit, and a rig designed for serious passage-making.

Other Considerations
Outremers are built to last and have enjoyed strong resale values in the market. We expect that to continue with these new models.
Historically, core models like the 55 have stronger resale liquidity than flagship launches. The 57 may follow that pattern more closely than the 64.

The Bottom Line
The Outremer 57 refines a proven offshore tool. The Outremer 64 expands the concept while staying true to Outremer’s roots.
With these 2 new models plus the 48, Outremer have have an eviable range of high quality, offshore cruisers that will build on the success of the 55 and 52.

And we are pleased to see that the Outremer 45 continues in the line-up, a design classic that remains as popular today as when it was launched.
