Gunboat: Meet the Fusion 80, the New Gran Turismo Catamaran
If you’ve been around the sailing world for a while, you’ll know Gunboat. For 25 years, the brand has been a trailblazer, blending racing cats with the comfort of cruising with their high-performance catamarans.
Now, they’re about to launch the Fusion line—which they’re calling the Gran Turismo Catamaran—and it’s stirring up excitement following the official launch at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September 2025.

Gunboat will continue to build and develop high performance catamarans while developing this new range of luxurious yachts: the Fusion 80 from Gunboat. They are forging a new luxury catamaran segment: the Gran Turismo.
With a 19m² Master Suite, an Integrated Flybridge, Forward Lounge Cockpit and the kind of performance you’d expect from a Gunboat.
- Patrick Le Quément & Christophe Chedal Anglais — Exterior design
- Kristian Gavoille & Valérie Garcia — Interior architecture
- VPLP — Naval architecture.
Thanks to the Gunboat team for talking us through their plans, really excited to see the first Fusion 80 in the water.
History
Gunboat started by redefining what a sailing catamaran could be. Their boats aren’t just fast—they’re race-bred machines with liveable elegance on board, and forever changed perceptions about catamarans being slow and bulky back in the day.
The original Gunboats combined cutting-edge naval architecture with sleek, purposeful designs that made them the biggest brand in the business, the Ferrari of the seas.
Fusion
Fast forward to today, and the Fusion line feels like a natural evolution. At 80 feet and crafted in advanced composite materials, the Fusion is built for speed and lightness, with a French design touch that makes it a thing of beauty.

The yacht was dreamed up by VPLP, legends in offshore racing architecture and the team behind the naval design, while Patrick Le Quément and Christophe Chedal Anglay have drawn the exterior lines that make the Fusion instantly recognisable.
Inside, Christian Gavoille and Valérie Garcia have worked their magic to create an atmosphere that blends natural light, elegant proportions, and tactile richness to bring the yacht’s interiors to life.
One standout is the 19 square meter master suite with private sea access—a treat that echoes the boat’s fusion of performance and premium living. And the panoramic flybridge is an engineering marvel that blends aesthetics and function. The Fusion is aimed at a new generation of Gunboat owners.

Gunboat’s Managing Partner, Benoît Lebizay, captures the spirit perfectly: the Fusion isn’t just about size or space—it’s about presence. The yacht radiates confidence and elegance.
Gunboat’s yachts have pushed boundaries, from their earlier 62 and 48-foot models to the more recent Gunboat 68, 72 and 80s that have made waves with their mix of speed and liveable space. The Fusion is poised to shake things up again: a racing yacht with the comfort of a grand touring vessel.
September 10th saw the launch of the concept at the Cannes Yachting Festival where they showcased the full technical details and 3D visuals. We are looking forward to seeing this on the water!
