As of November 2022, Gecko is no longer available for charter.
Gecko is a 2019 highly spec’d Nautitech 40 Open catamaran.
Designed by Mark Lombard, Gecko is the refreshed design, launched following the purchase of Nautitech by Bavaria and the sister ship to the Nautitech 46 Open. She comes in the new Nautitech colours (white, gold, grey).
Please contact us for more information.
.. is a 4 Cabin Explorer Version, the top of the range pack, with plenty of extras such as upgraded engines, extra fridge, freezer, inverter, heating system, folding propellers and so on. She has a tender called “Geckito” with a 8 HP engine for getting about.
See below for more details.
The Nautitech 40 Open is a very seaworthy boat thanks to that low boom and hulls shaped by Marc Lombard. She really comes into her own in the warm waters of the Med with a nice steady breeze blowing.
With those aft helms, the saloon and aft cockpit opens up into one big living space and she makes a great platform for fun at anchor. Overall, we love this compromise between living space and performance when compared to other cruising cats like the Lagoon 40 (but then we would say that, wouldn’t we!) If you enjoy a sail as well as hanging out in crystal clear waters, then she is a great package.
From the helms you can keep an eye on the whole family when sailing and at anchor the living space is maximised. Our favourite spot is the nets in good conditions
It’s a great configuration for warmer climes in particular. If the evening gets chilly, just roll down the clears in the aft cockpit and switch on the heating- there is a vent in the aft cockpit which heats up the back in no time. That’s not something that you will need to do in the summer of course. With the saloon hatches open and the doors opened to the max, the breeze flows through the whole boat.
Gecko is the EXPLORER version with the following configuration and upgrades:
• Cabins: 4 doubles
• Heads: 2

Gecko is based in Port Ginesta near Barcelona, handily only 15 minutes away from Barcelona airport. From here there are plenty of options to explore some of the most popular sailing areas in the world. Head over to the Balaeric Islands for example (Menorca, Mallorca and Ibiza): Port de Soller on the Mallorcan Coast is only 95 nm away. Some of our guests sail over, and some pick up the boat in the islands.
We have also sailed her north to the Costa Brava. We’d recommend Sant Feliu de Guixols, Palamos (with its world famous prawns) and Cadaqués where Salvidor Dali spent his summers.
Or head south to the Ebro Delta, famous for its mussels
